Company Beginnings

Coachmen RV was founded by three brothers: Tom, Keith and Claude Corson. The brothers decided to begin manufacturing travel trailers in the city of Middlebury, Indiana, in 1964. In their first year of production, the Corson brothers manufactured a dozen travel trailers, 80 truck caps and one truck camper. Their business grew exponentially with time and today, three-fourths of a million Coachmen RVs have been sold.

In 2008, Warren Buffett’s holding company, Berkshire Hathaway, purchased Coachmen RV under the umbrella of Forest River, Inc. The company headquarters remain in Middlebury, with over 220 acres of manufacturing facilities producing a wide variety of different types of RVs, including travel trailers, motorhomes in every class, fifth wheels and more. This is how they’ve become the Leader to the Great Outdoors.
